Weipa Flying Arts

I flew to Weipa in far North Queensland to teach  wood lithography, screenprinting and mixed media at Western Cape College. It is the second time that I have visited Weipa with Flying Arts and the landscape astounds me.It is a flight to Cairns, then a flight to Weipa, looking down from the window over snaking rivers. The town is vibrant and hospitable, with a diverse cultural community.

The theme of the artworks was Isolation. We made image transfers, textured mixed media pieces, and Mokulito lithography. The High school students created some thoughtful and layered pieces using the new techniques, and the talented Creative Arts teachers joined the lithography and mixed media class on the Saturday.
