During the project, Fatima S Hellfisch and Ingrid Burkett dropped by my studio and offered to help. Fatima S Hellfisch collaborated on the Zombies making them veinous and decayed, the elephant, the creepy hands waving from the river, the ferris wheel, the Goma sign, a giant tree, the unicyclist. creepy ibises and Death’s doors. Ingrid Burkett drew legs and psychedelic butterflies from some old engravings I had on hand. I drew dinosaurs, viruses, crows, flocks of birds, ducks, a dragon, and angels.
The method we use is a type of engraving that Fatima invented. The drawings for Street read were done over a very intense 8 weeks. After that, some trickery: layering the images and sending them to Emily Craven our editor.

Flying Arts Maryborough

A Flying Arts trip to Maryborough to facilitate a Shibori and resist dye workshop. Maryborough is a delightful historic town and once was a major port. It has a thriving arts community, and we worked in Gatakers Art Space that has recently become a printmaking studio. It was a workshop exploring resist techniques, and a highlight was mixing an indigo dye bath, watching the cloth change to rich deep blues as it oxidises in the air.

creepy pictures

My studio seems haunted at the moment, illustrations for Street Reads dangling across lines, flailing limbs and scarey critters pegged and drying out of harm’s way. Fatima S Hellfisch has added some sinew and gore to the zombies and limbs.

printed porcelain brooches and silk scarves

Botanique Art Bazaar is held at the Mt Coo-tha Botanic Gardens in Brisbane with a range of botanically inspired artworks, jewellery, fabrics and hand made items at the Richard Randall Art  Studio (near the entrance)

My groups made brooches by transfer printing onto porcelain, and some hand printed and dyed silk scarves. Here are some photos of our work in progress.
