December!

Back from a recent trip to Wandoan with Flying Arts, enjoyed the workshops, the op shop and the pub. The town is about to be consumed by a gigantic open cut coal mine. With rents there at $800pw mining people are moving in and old timers are upset to be moved away from their farms. I felt sad to be there amid the cultural shift and worried about the future of farming in places like these, where as the lure of big mining bucks increases, school students know that can earn more in the mines without and education than the schoolteachers do with theirs, and do not hesitate to let their teachers know this.
